The New European
I am thrilled to have my poem titled WHEN AN EMPIRE SHEDS ITS SKIN in The New European today. I think that as writers, we can’t afford to ignore politics and current affairs, or as the quote attributed to Plato goes: “If you do not take an interest in the affairs of your government, then you are doomed to live under the rule of fools.”
In my case, it is also personal – as you can read in the poem. Hope you enjoy it.
Loved your poem, it reflected my anger, despair and shame about Brexit.
I’m a 75 year old living in Somerset who just wants to say thank you.
Thank you so much, John. I am sure it ruffled a few feathers for some people, but I also think that there are some feathers that need ruffling!
